When it comes to raw acceleration, it’s no secret that the Tesla Model S and Model X provide more bang for the buck than any other car on the market. While a tricked out Model S in Ludicrous Mode is capable of going from 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds, the Model X, despite being an SUV, is no slouch in the speed department either. Specifically, a Model X in Ludicrous Mode can rocket from 0-60 in just 3.2 seconds and can complete a quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds. And remember, this is an SUV we’re talking about.

With Tesla now getting a better handle on Model X production, deliveries have been increasing at a rapid clip all around the country. In turn, it’s no surprise that we’re finally starting to see the proliferation of Model X racing videos sprout up across the web.

Last we saw, the Model X was busy giving a Ferrari F430 a run for its money. This time around, the folks at DragTimes decided to pit a Model X P90D against a McLaren 650S for a friendly quarter-mile race.

Note that the video shows the Model X taking on McLaren both with and without launch control activated. What’s launch control, you might be wondering? Well, it transforms the already formidable McLaren 650S into an absolute rocket with a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds and a 0-100 time of less than six seconds.

Sure, the McLaren 650S emerges victorious, but the acceleration on the Model X is a sight to behold. Not only that, but the Model X is a heck of a lot more affordable than a McLaren 650S which can go for as much as a cool quarter of a million dollars, at least.
