This is the Google Pixel smartphone

Google Pixel Leak Release Date

We’re just over a week away from Google’s fall event, where the company will unveil a bunch of new devices, including the Pixel smartphone family that’s supposed to replace the Nexus series. The Pixel and Pixel XL phones were featured in numerous reports and leaks in the past weeks, but today we have what looks to be the final press render for the handset.

The Pixel represents a new Google smartphone initiative. The company is going after the iPhone and the Android flagships with a duo of high-end smartphones that feature top hardware and build quality. The Pixels will also run a non-vanilla, Google-customized, version of Android. Finally, the phones will be as expensive as an iPhone, which is a notable departure from Google’s previous Nexus pricing policy.

Ahead of Google’s event, Venture Beat got a hold of the press render above, which shows the purported Pixel phone along with the various distinctive software features we saw in previous leaks. We have a new Google search menu, redesigned virtual buttons, and round app icons. The site says it can confirm Google will unveil the Pixel and the Pixel XL next week. The phones are supposed to ditch the Nexus branding in favor of Pixel, and they’re going to be built by HTC.

Google will unveil the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4th, which is when we’ll also find out more details about other Google products, and Android’s exciting “Andromeda” future.
