iPhone 6s’s most important new feature gets fully detailed in new report

iPhone 6s Features Force Touch

The iPhone 6s will likely be a more refined version of last year’s iPhone 6 but that doesn’t mean it will be totally bereft of new features. The device’s most important new feature will be the addition of the Force Touch technology that Apple is already using for both the Apple Watch and its 2015 MacBook. But what will Force Touch bring to the table for iPhone users? A new report from 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman explains it to us in great detail.

One use for Force Touch will be in Apple Maps, where it will let you Force Touch on prospective destinations to automatically bring up turn-by-turn directions from your current location. It also sounds like Force Touch will be used to help iPhone users better manage their music playlists in Apple Music, among other things.

Where things get really intriguing, however, is in the realm of using Force Touch for various shortcuts for commonly used app icons on your home screen.

“For example, if a user deep presses on the Phone app icon, he could choose to shortcut directly to the Voicemail tab,” Gurman reports. “This could also apply to deep pressing the News app icon and being taken directly to either the Favorites or For You tabs.”

In addition to confirming the role of Force Touch, Gurman also brings us word that the iPhone 6s will feature 4K video recording, 2GB of RAM, faster LTE speeds, and the new A9 processor.

As always, his full report is worth checking out and can be found here.
