One of the burning questions Star Wars: The Force Awakens left us with was the identity of Rey’s parents. Who are they and why did they abandon her when she was very young? A variety of theories have attempted to explain who Rey’s mom and/or dad are, with Leia and Han, or Luke being among the candidates. However, Disney remained quiet about this particular mystery, which is likely going to be unraveled in the upcoming Episode VIII.

However, while Star Wars fans desperately want to know details about Rey’s family, Daisy Ridley suggested at the MTV Movie Awards that the detail might not be important.

According to Comicbook, Ridley has known who her parents are since filming The Force Awakens, but she won’t share. She did take the time to shoot down a brand new theory that says Rey might be the daughter of Rogue One’s main character Jyn.

“I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair, it doesn’t mean she’s my mom,” the actress said, and then added that her parents aren’t important for the story.

“I think the amazing thing about VII is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place. So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important because I don’t really think it is,” Ridley said of her lineage.

She further revealed that she has no if she’s a Jedi in Episode VIII, which will be darker than the first one. “I don’t know if I am a Jedi… I don’t think I am,” she said. “We’ve had this debate as to whether Leia is because she uses her Force powers. Just because she’s not like, oh I’m going on an adventure like Luke doesn’t make her any less Forceful.”

Whatever, Rey, we still want to know who your mom and dad are!
