Back when the Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket was making headlines, I doubted that we’d ever see such a ludicrous design for a popcorn bucket ever again. Ryan Reynolds wasn’t going to let Timmy Chalamet and Co. one-up Deadpool & Wolverine, though.
“Wait till you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket,” Reynolds joked on Twitter in February.
He wasn’t really joking. On Thursday, we finally got our first look at the Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket, and it’s as ridiculous as anyone could have ever imagined. In typical Deadpool fashion, the popcorn bucket is in the shape of Wolverine’s (aka Hugh Jackman’s) head, with his mouth serving as the opening in which to pour the popcorn:
Expect this to be a hot collector’s item this summer when Deadpool 3 hits theaters. Marvel toys and memorabilia have always had a market, but how many of those items show off Wolverine’s tongue? I don’t actually know, but I’m gonna guess not many.
After a rough opening weekend at the box office for both Furiosa and The Garfield Movie, this is genuinely the exact kind of silliness we need to draw people back to movie theaters. There might not be another Barbenheimer any time soon, but it’s clear that convincing people to spend their time and money at a theater is more challenging than ever. What better way to get butts in seats than with the wildest popcorn bucket they’ve ever seen?
