Mortal Kombat X,
the tenth installment of the wildly successful video game franchise, has been well-received by both critics and gamers since hitting store shelves this past April. While the game naturally features all of the gore and violence fans of the franchise have come to expect, it also has a few surprises in the form of special characters like Predator and Jason Voohries of Friday the 13th fame.

Now comes word, straight from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon himself, that Mortal Kombat X almost included Arnold Schwarzanegger’s Terminator character.

While the idea of having The Terminator as a downloadable character in such an iconic game is awesome, the talks unfortunately didn’t make it that far.
Still, there may be hope just yet. Game Rant writes that there may be new downloadable characters on the way, perhaps paving the way for a Terminator surprise in just a few months.
It’s a bit of a bummer that we didn’t get The Terminator as a DLC character for Mortal Kombat X, but there’s still some hope for the time-traveling murder machine to be added to the game in the future. Even though NetherRealm has satisfied the contents of the first season pass for Mortal Kombat X, it seems that they are planning a Kombat Pack 2, which would presumably include four new DLC characters. We’re still waiting on official word regarding Kombat Pack 2, but it will probably be revealed within the next few months.
And so the waiting game begins.
If you simply can’t wait, perhaps WWE 2K16 can hold you over. Scheduled to hit store shelves in October, The Terminator will be available as a special playable character if you pre-order the device. Notably, you’ll be able to choose between two Terminator models, the original from the 1984 film and the second from 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
