The most unavoidable cup of coffee in the United States just got more expensive.
The Associated Press reported on Monday that Starbucks will be raising its prices nationally once again, bumping the price of all affected drinks up by 5 to 20 cents. Small and large brewed coffees will jump by 10 cents, which brings the grand total of a large cup of coffee at Starbucks to $2.45.
Ridiculous.

Starbucks said in an emailed statement that it has to “balance the need to run our business profitably while continuing to provide value to our loyal customers and to attract new customers.” The company also wants to remind customers that its expenses go beyond coffee, including rent, labor, marketing and equipment.
Lisa Passe, a Starbucks representative, says that based on current trends, only 20% of customers will be affected by the price changes, but a majority of the changes will affect hot drinks. That means that Starbucks regulars will only truly begin noticing the price hike when the weather cools down in the fall and winter.
Passe also notes that food items will retain their current prices, so your Zesty Chicken & Black Bean Salad Bowl is safe.
