Well we knew it was coming, and now it is here. Today, Verizon Wireless made the Samsung Intensity II — a QWERTY-slider messaging phone — official. The device has a full horizontal slide-out QWERTY keyboard with external numeric keypad, 2.2-inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) screen, 1.3-megapixel infrared camera with night vision, Bluetooth, and micro-SD card slot (with support for up to a 32 GB card). The device will be available from Big Red for $49.99 on-contract (after a $50 mail-in rebate) in the next few weeks. We’ve got the official release all linked up for you. More →
One of our friends over at Best Buy was kind enough to send us in a few shots of the new Samsung Intensity II, due out on Verizon Wireless… um, soon we would presume? The phone pictured is a display unit, but from what we’re told the full-QWERTY slider-phone will have a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a $1.00 price tag from Best Buy on a 2-year contract. Of course, if you don’t want to be married to this phone for two years — and if you’re reading this there is a
high likelihood mathematical certainty that you don’t — you can pick one up for $249.99 full retail. Not a bad looking little phone… for your younger siblings of course. We’ve got the larger images ready for your scrutiny after the break. More →

Oh, divested Alltel customers — did you think you were going to get the shaft again? Cheer up, as half of the dynamic duo for which we exclusively scooped Verizon launch dates this morning is headed your way. Unfortunately, it’s Robin and not Batman. The upcoming Samsung u450 Intensity is indeed headed your way according to Bluetooth SIG. Sure it’s not as sexy as the Rogue but all you maniacal messaging fiends out there will surely welcome a budget Bluetooth 2.0+EDR-rocking, side-sliding QWERTY into your families, won’t you? No word yet on pricing or a release date but considering the handset is hitting Verizon at $30 on a 2-year contract, we would expect Alltel’s pricing to be in the same ballpark on a 1-year contract.
Need a new phone to take to college that’s easy on the wallet and relatively easy on the eyes? Then perhaps we can interest you in two new Samsung feature phones that are all set to make their Big Red debut on September 8th. First up, the u960 Rogue, which features a touchscreen display, landscape-slider form factor, full-QWERTY keypad, 3 megapixel camera, GPS and EV-DO connectivity. Next is the u450 Intensity, which has a sliding QWERTY keypad, 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth. The cost? $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate for the Rogue and $29.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate for the Intensity, both on a 2-year contract.
Nothing like a blurry photograph showing off a printed picture of a crappy handset to get your motor running, right? We scooped a pending in-stock date of August 23rd at Best Buy stores for the u450 Intensity so it makes sense that we would see this little guy start to pop up. There’s still nothing official from Verizon or Samsung but we’re guessing that after the following sentence, you won’t really care: Rumored specs include dual keypads, a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth. Exciting, we know. There is good news in all this, however. Increasing leaks typically mean an announcement or launch is getting close and there are a few handsets on that Best Buy list we’re definitely interested in. If we can firm up a launch around the end of August for the Intensity, it could mean that some of the sexier handsets on our inventory screenshot will fall into place as well. Chocolate Touch? Omnia 2? Yes, please.
