Just weeks after Apple’s surprising acquisition of Beats Music, Google announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Songza, another popular music streaming service. Although Google doesn’t have any immediate plans to change Songza, the company plans to integrate aspects of the service into Google Play Music in the coming months. For now, existing users won’t see any differences and the Songza employees will remain at their office in New York.

As our sister site BGR.in reported earlier this month, there have been rumors of a potential Songza purchase by Google for around $15 million. To put that into perspective, Apple’s Beats acquisition landed at $3 billion and Pandora and Spotify are valued even higher than that. There hasn’t been any confirmation as to how the financial terms of the deal ended up shaking out.

Songza released the following statement shortly after the acquisition was announced:

“You know why we love building Songza? Because you trust us to make every moment of your day better — and that’s a pretty huge honor. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re becoming part of Google. We can’t think of a better company to join in our quest to provide the perfect soundtrack for everything you do. No immediate changes to Songza are planned, other than making it faster, smarter, and even more fun to use.”
