Amazon and Best Buy drop pricing on HP TouchPad

Tablets

Amazon and Best Buy have both dropped their pricing on the 16GB and 32GB models of HP’s new TouchPad tablet. Amazon customers can now pick up a 16GB model for $489.99 or a 32GB model for $572.65, down from $499.99 and $599.99, respectively. Similarly, Best Buy is now offering the 32GB model for $579.99. We’re not surprised by the price drops. In our recent review of the TouchPad, we said it’s “just good” in its current state and that the original pricing was OK if you had the patience for the tablet. At least now you’ll be able to save a few bucks for the nifty Touchstone charging dock.

Nobody wants that shit. There’s only one tablet and that’s the iPad.

10 weak ass dollars, that’s it HP? This is a dead product (so far).

  • Cer

Kudos for a non-iOS article, but for a $10 and $20 price drop? What are the standards here?

    • Anonymous

A $10/$20 price drop after just 12 days, you mean. It’s the 12 days that’s significant.

      • Cer

Ha, I had no idea it was even out yet. Still the price drop is extremely insignificant.

  • sirpaul

LOL, $20? Really? I really wanted to get one but it was wayyyy to expensive. Now after the price drop I think I’ll be able to afford it. That $20 totally changed my mind! Thanks HP!

I think people are realizing that the tablet is a waste of money. You are better off with a full netbook or notebook. You can’t do everything on it at once so whats the point

    • Carmen

Some people (like you) will never get the point because they are stubborn.  I could go on to explain how “do[ing] everything on it at once” isn’t what everyone needs, or draw up some well-thought-out analogy about how getting something that works efficiently at the job at-hand is all that is necessary…but you wouldn’t get it.  Your mind is made up!  So enjoy your zero-value netbook, or your cheap Walmart laptop while i use my quick, simple, and easy-to-handle tablet.

It has to be demoralizing to see tablet after tablet fail. Apple will rule the world.  true story™©®

I’ll get it if they drop price to compete with iPad 1.

I’m shopping for a tablet right now and it looks like the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a bargain Honeycomb for me.

    • Anonymous

The Transformer may seem like a budget tablet compared to the likes of the galaxy tab but the transformer has a micro sd card and mini hdmi which the galaxy tab doesn’t have.

The only thing budget about it is the price it’s an amazing tablet that’s well built and i highly recommended it andd it’s the tablet that I have choosin it over an iPad 2 ( Iphone user here )

Interesting choice with it’s 300 tablet apps vs the iPad’s 100,000.

Review in Phonedog said that he had 24 reboots/freezes during 1 week of testing.

I waited so much for this tablet but now I’m cold like ice to buy it.

    Dear HP,

Can you shrink the size of this device and give it calling capability?

    Thank you

    Sincerely,

    Every webOS user ever

It’d a dud, a big glossy plastic dud.

I smell some desperation. Maybe they should hack it down to $399 to get he ball rolling.

You know what the problem with HP is? The problem is they don’t have any brain dead retarded name brand slaves like crApple or The Great Evil. Let’s face it it’s the flamer iFags and the butt hurt Fandroids that are driving the market right now for those two whorehouse companies.

Was at Best Buy Tuesday….the salesman said they hadn’t sold a single Touchpad. They had a pool going for the 1st employee to sell one…..

  • Anonymous

Sad really. Not so great reviews. Sales seem very slow. A reported update to fix bugs on a device that’s been available for less than two weeks (which indicates they knew about the bugs before its release). A supposedly better faster version already announced for AT&T.

I was really wanting to own one of these. There is no way I can justify it based on what I am seeing and hearing.

Not sure what HP is thinking. They don’t have the large ecosystem that iOS or Android has yet they think they can release products in the same price range.

Didn’t they learn anything from Palm and the Pre?

Why buy a company if you’re going to make the same mistakes? And it’s worse now because there are more competitors.

Add another zero to those price drops and you may sell one or two of these things.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com
