RIM and Hulu in talks for PlayBook access

mobile

Research In Motion is working with Hulu in an effort to provide BlackBerry PlayBook users with access to Hulu’s online videos, The Wall Street Journal is reporting. The BlackBerry PlayBook launched with full Adobe Flash support, which meant PlayBook users were able to stream movies and television shows from the online content provider, until Hulu decided to block access earlier this week. “We are in conversations with Hulu to bring Hulu Plus subscription service to BlackBerry PlayBook users,” a spokeswoman for RIM told The Wall STreet Journal. Hulu Plus costs $7.99 per month, however, so it appears that Hulu’s free offering will continue to be blocked for the foreseeable future.

Content providers fear mobile devices like it’s the plague. We’re going to look back at this in 20 years and laugh at how ridiculous these tactics were, That is, if we don’t all die in 2012

That’s all we need, easier access to retro TV!

Here, in total, is a transcript of the talks:

RIM: We’d like access for our PlayBook users.

    Hulu: No.

    RIM: Okay. Got any coffee?

  • Guestone

The only kind of moron that would pay Hulu is the kind that would buy a RIP Playbook….

Notice the iPad or Android don’t have these posts, because they were never able to.

      • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

Hmm…didn’t notice that. I DID notice that iPad/Android users can’t think for themselves.

      • Anonymous

Of course we can think for ourselves. For example I THINK I prefer a tablet I don’t need an outdated phone to be able to check my email with.

      • http://twitter.com/NICKVALENTIN0 Nick Valentino

Yes, exactly…you “think you prefer” but you’re not sure so you just let Apple’s/Samsung’s marketing wizards steer you in the direction of purchasing their junk.

    How about netflex?

Partner with android for apps. Partner with hulu for video….can rim job do anything on their own??

    • http://twitter.com/whutless kamau young

rim did not partner with android for apps. they just made it easier for android developers to repackage their apps to be sold in the blackberry app world get you facts straight.

and assuming you have an app for for viewing hulu on your app/android device guess what had to happen in order for those apps to be created……..

      yea your a dumb ass

  • Elmorro

I never understood what’s the big deal about Hulu anyway. Most of these shows are avaible to view through their networks’ own respective websites, running Flash.

    • Ks

      exactly.

  • PlayBook Rulez

It is funny because the actual launch of the PlayBook it worked just fine. Hulu is just trying to get theres and try to be a money hog.

  • mac user

I’ve called The New Yorker and The Wall Street Journal – you view either on the PlayBook.  Weird
