Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters sells 225k in first week, beats records

Electronics Arts has announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters has beat all previous first-week sales records in its Tiger Woods game franchise history. According to Gamasutra, the title sold 225,000 copies during its first week, and early estimates suggest it earned twice the revenue of last year’s game. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters is the first game in the family to allow players to hit the links at the famous Augusta National golf club —  roughly 2 million rounds through that course have already been played. Similarly, players have already hit 182 million shots in the game, and 7 million games have been logged since the title’s launch on March 29th. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters, is available on all of the major gaming consoles, including the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii.

    Simply a great golf game. And given Tiger’s dramatic near comeback at the last Major, perhaps he was simply worried about the sales figures. Now that he doesn’t need to worry, he can concentrate on playing golf. While I’m no fan of Tiger’s infidelity, I am personally glad to see his golf talent coming back to the forefront. And I just got my copy of The Masters over the weekend. GREAT GAME! Go Tiger!

    Just wish it had more courses. Shouldn’t have to pay to download stuff that should be there. That’s like buying Madden and you have to pay for stadiums to play in to finish your season.

    I haven’t played it yet but i plan to buy it tonight…I didn’t even know it was out but i was waiting for this game. I am a big fan of Tiger but just like dejan…not a fan of his infidelity…Bad choice Tiger…family first…but its great to see him bounce back. Golf needs Tiger to do well..There’s nothing like sunday morning waking up and seeing Tiger in his Killer red/black and doing well…But yes…I have TW 2010 and still play it at least 2x a week…so this new addition will have me wasting more valuable time playing video games….

    I went to two Bestbuys and Frys the day the came out.. I barley got a copy two days ago. Great game.
