HP outs webOS 3.0 beta for developers

mobile

During its webOS CONNECT event in London on Wednesday, HP announced that webOS 3.0 beta is now available for developers taking part in its Early Access program. The SDK includes full support for HP’s new Enyo apps framework, which offers hardware acceleration, browser-based development, better performance, support for HTML 5 standards, and more. PreCentral says the Early Access program should be relatively easy to get into, provided that you’re actually a webOS developer. The webOS 3.0 operating system powers the HP TouchPad, which we had a chance to see up close back in February. HP also announced plans to launch a revamped developer portal located at devleoper.palm.com, although it didn’t specify exactly that would happen.

“Give it up” implies “give it to us now”.

Are you trying to say “Give up already”?

      WebOS is great technology, IMHO.

No Give it up can mean either or. It can mean to “Give up Already” or “Give it to us now” – look it up.

what’s that? Yea…The worlds developers are waiting for this and TouchPad…

Oh, you missed the memo proving for the 3rd or 4th year in a row that WebOS is the developer favorite OS…

Enough of the soft launch crap. HP is WAAAAY behind the competition in the mobile space. They need results, not more hype.

I guess this means the Pre3 will be released in a couple of weeks…isn’t that how they operate?

Heh heh. Still holding on there.
You gotta give it to them: they’re persistent.
In a perfect world, HP would deserve to win some market share. Just for the effort. But…
They should think hard about selling this part to Google or RIM or something. It’s a lot of effort that might lead nowhere otherwise.

Before I can judge it I really need to use a webOS device. Everyone else seems to love it so there has to be a good reason!
