HP’s Palm Pre 2 now available from Verizon Wireless

mobile

As the carrier announced earlier this week, Hewlett-Packard’s last Palm-branded smartphone is now available for sale from Verizon Wireless. The phone features the latest version of HP’s webOS operating system alongside a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a portrait-sliding QWERTY keypad. It is available for $149.99 with a two-year service contract in stores and online, though customers might want to wait for more news on the devices announced at HP’s recent “Think Beyond” event. To reiterate our position on the phone one final time, wait for the Pre 3. The Pre 2 is what the original Palm Pre should have been. The Pre 3, on the other hand, is what a webOS smartphone from HP should be.

    This is Pre’historic!
    Waiting on the ThunderBolt¡₣! !!!

[Hey BGR, no Throwback Thursday WTF?]

Isn’t that what the pre is for…

Actually, I had a sprint palm pre. It was great. There just arn’t many great apps. I would consider switching back from my evo though, if the apps for webos grow. Webos is by far my favorite phone operating system.

I was close to getting the Pre on Sprint. Love WebOS but I HATED that hardware…jeez. I ended up going with the Hero, Now I’m onto the EVO and I’m afraid im prettu much stuck on Android now. If HP dropped a slate webOS device that may have changed my mind… WebOS would be very Sexy on a 4inch screen with no keyboard(for me anyway)

Is Verizon really going to get the Pre3 or is it going to Sprint…which would explain this overpriced lame duck?

  • JNM

This should be a GSM phone. Seems like it would do so much better.

Call me when palm gets smart and puts webOS on at 4.3inch slab device. That will raise some eye brows

    • dwinsmith

Screens over 4″ are ridiculous. 3.5-4 is perfect, but 3.1″ is too small.

      • Tim242

        4.3″ is great!

Same thing I thought BEFORE I got my EVO. Now I look at the iPHone screen size like WTF? lol even worse looking at my old 3.2inch hero screen I can’t understand how I did it for so long.

Same here. Just got the EVO, I thought it would be too large at 4.3″ but fits just fine. easier to type on too, much less typos = faster emails and texts. It helps b/c the EVO is also slim and slides into the pocket – can’t feel it much different from the Hero I used to have.

Does anyone really want this phone? I WANT THE THUNDERBOLT!!!!

    • Tim

Screw the thunderbolt. It’s only going to have froyo on it! What about gingerbread man or ice cream hot fudge triple hot fudge with whip cream?? Just old OS

  • Gcombs

This phone is a waste knowing the Pre 3 is coming and the design is outdated.

    • Gcombs

HP needs a new design for their products. The pre was good a year or two ago. They need a game changer or something that can compete with the larger screen sizes and designs overall.

dum dum dum… lol I love WebOS. Waiting for Palm Pre 3!

  • http://twitter.com/qriusme qriusme

Palm could only do so much during the original launch of the Pre being strapped for cash… too bad. And thus we had the sucky hardware. If the had the money originally, things could be so much different now.

  • Smartguy

Not a Palm fan at all, they started the smartphone touch screen game w Treo then fell off, they should be way ahead the game by now but cannot survive in a Andorid, iPhone, RIM world. They need to scrap every thing & start over, nothing about Palm has any sort of wow factor.

Too bad it’s not an iPhone again! There would be at least 12 more articles about it that we could get tired of.
