Twitter 2.0 for Android released; interface revamped

Today via a blog post, social networking site Twitter announced an update to its Android client to version 2.0. The new code offers a modified interface along with a handful of feature improvements and additions, including:

  • Use without having to sign-in
  • Single window layout
  • @mentions are now included in the replies tab
  • Autocompletion of usernames
  • Universal search

The update is sitting in the Android Market, waiting for you to download it. Go take it for a spin and let us know what you think.

      You have to select the tweet, choose Retweet and then choose Quote. It gives you the option to edit and add comments.

      Yeah, Native Retweet was in the old version too…. but to do it, there’s 2 ways. You can swipe to the right on a tweet, and it opens up choices underneath the tweet. The icon that looks like a squared off refresh button (the two arrows making a circle) is your retweet button… gives you Retweet or Quote choices. Alternatively, you can click on the tweet itself, and it makes it the only tweet on the screen, activates links/hash tags etc, with the choices on the bottom of the screen. Same icon using that method.

    i download this yesterday. Used it all night. well tried to. Tweetdeck is still Number 1 for me.
