Dell Streak now $99.99 from Best Buy

mobile

Fans of supersized smartphones should look no further than Best Buy Mobile this morning, where the Dell Streak has been dropped to just $99.99 with a two-year AT&T service contract. Current owners of the AT&T-branded Dell Streak are still a bit annoyed that the Froyo update has been delayed until January, but if you can tolerate Donut for another month, the Dell Streak is a solid option. Notable specs include that giant display, of course, alongside a 5-megapixel camera, a secondary VGA camera for video chat, HSPA (7.2Mbps down, 5.8Mbps up), 16GB of internal storage and microSDHC support. The Dell Streak is available online and at Best Buy Mobile locations in both white and black.

This thing is a donut alright. . .looks good on the outside, but it’s empty in the middle. ba-dum-bum.

Seriously though, is anyone surprised? This thing was a grease fire from the beginning.

Take 10 minutes reading how to use the QDL repair tool from xda-developers, install the base 2.2 that comes with the QDL tool, after it loads, do a reset, then use the 2.2 318 update website to download the 318 update, and about 5 minutes later, you have the 318 2.2 on the streak. No waiting on (I think it is) at&t to update the $*@($ thing. Plus, if you bypass the at&t update, EVERYTHING works, including tethering and bluetooth file transfers. I thought 1.6 was fast, but 2.2 is like lightning.
