Blank Label app lets you design, customize, and personalize your button-down shirt

Software

Gentlemen, let’s talk about steez. You know, “style with ease.”  If you’re the kind of dude who rocks a button-down collared shirt — and likes being one of a kind — you need to check out the Blank Label application for the iPad. Blank Label is, in our opinion, a fairly ingenious iPad app that lets you customize the: fabric type, collar, cuff, pocket, shoulders, placket, labeling, monogram and buttons of a button-down, collared shirt. With 40 fabrics, 6 collar types, 6 cuff types, 4 pocket types, 4 shoulder cuts, 4 placket types, two labeling options, three possible monogram locations, and 6 different button colors, you can pretty much guarantee that your designed garment is one of a kind; you’re definitely not going to be seeing your shirt in a Gap catalog. The application gives you a live preview of your shirt as you customize it and shirt pricing starts at right around $45; the price — obviously — goes up as you inflict your personal style. Company co-founder, Danny Wong, said that Blank Label is open to the idea of porting the application to Android tablets, however, at the moment, they are laser-focused on the iPad application. If you have an iPad, you can download Blank Label (free) from the App Store. If you don’t have an iPad you can see the application in action here or customize a shirt yourself from the company’s website blank-label.com. Whether you need a custom shirt or not, you have to admit… it is a very cool use of tablet technology. Check it out and let us know what you think.

That’s a pretty cool idea. Providing you know your exact size and exactly how you like your shirts. I’ll check it out.

With so many ipads out there, your shirt won’t be so unique… As if peiple buy ipads to be unique ;p

It would have a much better chance of being unique to your circle of friends than buying off the rack. Also, I don’t believe that any “peiple” buy iPads or that any OS would have let that slide by the spell checker…

    They need more fabrics, 40 isn’t enough…

I agree! I don’t buy too many dress shirts (I’m more of a Polo guy), but I know what I want when I go shopping. IMO, broadcloth is just too “cheap” of a fabric, especially for white shirts – you can see right through it! They need more quality fabric options, especially for that price. I can get a similar/better shirt at Burlington Coat Factory for almost 2/3 the price.

that’s fair. we’re working on getting more up there! or may be rotating those 40 out for another 40 shortly. stay tuned!

Also, some of those fabric patterns look like they came off the Conway rack. Who would wear a pink polka dot shirt?!?!

haha. i suppose that’s a fair enough comment?
the ‘stranger’ designs are meant for the bolder guy, if it were for the base at least. most guys like to use them for linings in the collar and cuffs, which i absolutely love!

Absolutely awful. I haven’t even received my shirt yet and it has been well over 60 days. When I first found this site and designed my shirt, I told all of my friends about it because I felt it was pretty innovative. I have now withdrew my recommendation.

They keep telling me it’s “The Chinese New Year” that has postponed the delivery, but then when it was delivered it was sent to the wrong address and is now lost in the mail. If the shirt doesn’t fit (which according to previous reviews, it won’t) I will be returning it and getting my money back.

    DON’T RISK IT!
