      I am with you on this one. Why would I buy an Android device that is actively blocking my Google services on said device? I am just floored by how stupid this is. On the bright side, there are a ton of other great Android phones on the market right now so it is not that big a deal. However, if they mess up my Galaxy Pad in that same way I will have to get stabby on the soft under belly of a certain CEO.

    I just get the error “The selection you made is unavailable at this time” every time I try to buy it when I’m selecting my features. It started shortly after midnight and I figured it’d be fixed when I woke up. Guess not. Anyone else?

      I was experiencing the same problem. I end up calling them at the phone shown, and I was able to put the order through at the web price of 199.00.

    The more carriers put their paws on these nice phones, the more uninteresting they become. We thought AT&T was bad at forcing yahoo down your throat; VZ forces bing on you. You can’t use google — on a google phone. Doesn’t matter that you’re paying hundreds of dollars for something. Sad.

    Is it true Verizon has locked the phone to only be able to use Microsoft’s horrible search instead of Google?

      You can still download Google Search. There are still tons of Google Search apps in the Android Market you can download. It just comes with Bing already pre-loaded.

        Actually NO, you can’t download Google search. Voice search is Bing only as well. Root will be required to change this.

      You would have to go through the browser to get the Google search for your device. It will not download from the market. I think it’s stupid they’re agreeing to use all these stupid services (Bing) on a Google phone. For the amount of money everyone pay, one should be basically get a blank canvas a personalize it however the heck wanted!!

      I don’t agree it is terrible advertising; they are basically saying that the product is overpriced enough for them to sell two phones at the price of one.

      And if that isn’t the case it is a shame that they make advertisement giving that impression…

        Funny I have coverage everywhere with my iPhone. pretty sad that people believed the ads VZW put out last holiday season. I live in the Philadelphia area and my At&t service is great. Plus my web is at least 2x faster than all of my friends with VZW. I personally cancelled VZW when they sold me a phone I couldn’t transfer files via bluetooth because they wanted to make money. 5-7 years ago VZW truly stood out because of their network. Now its just their clever advertising….. Pretty sad they give android a nickname and people clamor for it, I cant wait for apple’s piss poor engineering to fuck up big red’s network….

    You will be able to get Google search widget. You will be able to download Google Maps. You can default Google as your home page when hit the browser app. This phones screen is larger and better than iphones. Verizon > Att. Thanks and have a great day.

      One more thing. Touchwiz isnt much of a skin anyway. You can remove it or just get ADW/LP for free. Just the app drawer is what makes it different and guess what, all the apple haters suddenly dont like the look of it? Get real.

    Bing sucks people but it takes 3 steps to change it all to the Google goodness we are used to. Plus, if you’re on this site you should probably nut up and learn how to root. That will make Bing go away faster than my overclocked Droids battery life. The phone has a beautiful screen and works really snappy. Side by side the colors on this boy puts all the Droids to shame. Buy the phone for the screen and its perfect size. If you don’t like it there are 4 Droids sitting right next to it that you may like better. If none of those fit you then you’re probably just on this site to bitch and nothing I can say will stop you.

    Its it bad that I work for at&t and I’m totally excited for this phone? I don’t see why there’s all the bashing. The captivate rocks and this phone will too.

    Most of you are too damn stupid to realize quality when you see it. You’re too wrapped up in branding to to realize that if someone sealed dog shit in air tight packaging and suck an apple sticker on it that you’d buy it.

        This is brilliant hardware, not fond of the branding and design. More resources spend on the latter in future version would greatly increase the attractiveness and value.

    I think Motorola will stick with the droid x longer than Samsung will stay with the Galaxy S line. I can see the X getting Gingerbread someday, but I doubt Samsung will do that for the fascinate.

    Actually b4 all you guys mocked Bing you should check out the Mobile Burn review which is about 20min put together, the GPS issue was fixed and Bing actually worked really good so dont knock shit before u try it.

      Bing is inferior. Not horrible, just inferior. Verizon should not have made it difficult to easily switch.

      However, I will likely get this phone and root it. Problem solved.

      Google offered verizon awhile back to be for a few years the Vzw search engine. BING offered twice the amount of money. Thats all it is.
      …& android phones that VZW sells have since then become #1 :) .
      You can still use Google Maps on this phone. No blocked features…..

    O/t of story..

    I like how they play in the same sandbox/gravel yard, and I hope to see that continue to some degree between MS an Google. Though its time to separate the services.

    Google has exchange, MS now has Hotmail Exchange, Google is search, MS now has a good search. And it goes on, maps, documents etc… It’s a win/win for all the users of the respective systems.

    But to replace a service with one from the others camp at this point is troubling for most and should be rescinded. MS needs Googles help to a point to bust out, Google is ready to make a run with its bags packed already. Theres no reason to sh*t on each other as they stand the best chance together of going forward as a working team to a degree.

    Apple will/may get dirty about things in time imo, an it will be settled in the courts as they prefer.
