Best Buy Mobile pre-sales of Samsung Fascinate start 27th, 29th

General

If you want to assure yourself a Samsung Fascinate the very moment it hits the streets, you might want to consider Best Buy Mobile. Today, in a press release, BBM announced that:

The Verizon Wireless Samsung Fascinateā„¢ is available for pre-order starting August 29. As an added and exclusive bonus, Best Buy Reward Zone members can reserve the Samsung Fascinate on August 27, two days before it goes on pre-sale to the general public. That priority access will help ensure that Reward Zone members get their device first.

No pricing was mentioned in the article; although $199 with a 2-year contract is a safe bet. The device still doesn’t have an official release date, but that has to be coming very soon.

Sprint actually cares abt their customers just like tmobile.

  • Swagger

This one is the most iphone looking out of the four. It appears to also have a front facing camera. This might be the way to go if you’re on VZ, although I would still go with the Incredible.

    • Fandroid

Thats not the Fascinate. And no it wont have a front facing camera.

    • Simon

This is a galaxy s (intl) pictured, not a fascinate…would have loved a ffc and stock 2.1/2.2

    • Tom Brady

Or you could just wait until January and get the iphone, bypassing the garbage OS that is android.

That’s not the actual phone, that’s the european version. Anyway ill pass on the fasci. Can’t believe it will have bing, so gay.

    • webby

M-soft is paying these carriers to put Bing on certain phones and get Google search removed. It’s business and it’s that simple.

I think that you will be able to download Google search in the Market and put it back on the phone.

      • George Curious

I am reading complains of Bing on all the forums. Of course you can replace it with Google! People who complain about a Bing widget are tools.

Sales of the Droids must not be going well. Verizon very anxious to get this out so suddenly so that VZ customers will not deflect to Sprint for Epic 4G slide. Yes, competetion! Now, when is VZ going to get their unlimited plan lower like Sprint?

    • Rob

You have no idea what you’re talking about. The Incredible and X are on backorder and this is the last of the four US Galaxy phones to launch. Where have you been?

    • Jason J

Hardly anybody in the VZ corporate stores several times when I went. Nobody looking at the Inc, Droid, or Droid Inc. Several people state this. Maybe they are just making only a few of them to be certain.

The Fascinate actually looks like a Vibrant had a baby with iPhone 4. Unlike the Vibrants rounded edges, the Fascinate has flat edges and the front panel looks flush with no chrome bezel. The edge is chrome though. Really really nice looking. My fav out of all 4 Galaxy S phones. Verizon should have put LTE and front cam on it and said no thanks to Bing. Would have been nice!

    • George Curious

Screw the FFC. It’s a toy until bandwidth increases everywhere. Bing is a non-issue. Just replace it for gawd’s sake.

  • Swagger

Thanks for the correction. Man,what does VZ have against front facing cameras? You would think they would have them on at least this one.

    • Dream

There waiting LTE which would be my guess.

    • Tom Brady

While they have their “3G” everywhere it’s too slow for video calling.

  • jude

I don’t care for the GUI Samsung laid over the top of Android. Looks like a cheap copy of the iphone with tile icons and a 4-icon dock…only worse. Very fischer-price.

See hands on videos on youtube.

    • Verizon Emp

GUI does look kinda weak in videos but onces you see it in person its a whole different ball game, IMO. The phone feels and looks great.

    • loludumb

      Install Launcher Pro. Fixed.

      • I

No way I love the UI. Wouldn’t change a thing.

    • George Curious

      And Moto is better???

      Sense > TouchWiz > Moto

Sorry Moto owners but they need to keep working on that mess. Looks bad and slow.

Anyway all are easily replaced with LauncherPro or another home launcher.

    • willgill

Unlike the iPhone, you can change the interface. Some people may not like a grid of never ending icons.

The only fail on these phones IMO is the top USB port.

Samsung really needs some help in designing phones. The Captivate is hideous looking and feels worse when you hold it. The Vibrant looks ok but feels cheap. The Fascinate does look ok but I think Sprint got the best design with the Epic, even though the keyboard looks like a Samsung glyde.

  • jude

Hey Samsung – How painful would it be for you to hire a grade A industrial design guy from NY. Pay him $500k a year and put out some classy looking devices. This crap looks like cheap crap from China.

    • George Curious

Why are you so -fascinated- with the icons and case. Who cares. The screen and the hummingbird processor are the selling points.

If you’re only interested in how a phone looks, you may be interested in the iPhone 4.

  • Hello Moto

Funny how all the iPhone zombies think this phone looks like crap. Very very funny.

    Get it yet?

  • Mr. Bill

A shot gun approach with some decent shot..

    http://www.samsungmobileusa.com/GalaxyS/#/home

Wonder if LG will have something multi-handset styled coming out shortly after, not saying, just wondering out loud.

  • Matt

So this will have 2.2 and the GPS and lag fix etc since its only like 3 months late to the party?

    • Rob

3 months?? Didn’t this first start selling in the US at the end of July?

      • Matt

Yeah it was the middle of July and it comes out the end of Sept..So I’m what a couple weeks off?

Hence my ‘only like 3 months’

      • Rob

Well if the issues have been addressed and it’s released (hopefully) bug-free, then I guess they will have made the right decision.

      • Matt

If that is the case I would agree with you.

  • Clovis

The phone looks good albeit an obvious derivative of a certain other well known one out there, but Samsung Fascinate?

    Fascinate??

They need to sack their entire marketing department yesterday.

  • EggoEspada

I’m kind of skeptical on the Fascinate. I would love the 4in SAMOLED screen with the hummingbird processor, but I’m leaning towards the Droid Inc. Anyone have any thoughts on the better choice.

    • Tom Brady

You’ll like get updates with anythig HTC but it will be buggy and be poorly made. Motorola will be the best made as far as build quality but their OS system is screwed. Samaung is the best if you want an iphone now and don’t want to wait until january.

    • Fandroid

On Verizon? Go Fascinate or Droid x. 3.7 screens are so last qtr. =P

    • George Curious

Based on trying the Vibrant, you can’t go wrong with either the Inc or Facs.

I have an Inc and its a great phone but a bit small for me. Screen on the Samsung is simply the best out there right now.

I’m mainly concerned that some specs have shown less than 512 RAM on the Samsung. I consider this a minimum especially if you’re thinking about Gingerbread.

  • Max

More hot new phones come out every day that make Blackberry users green with envy.

  • Niteryder

So.. Does it have a front facing camera? How about a notification light?

My wife has this phone for T-Mobile and they left out the flash, front camera and notification light. Other than that the phone is really nice.

..and for the touchwiz interface.. Meh.. It’s fine, but root and a custom vanilla 2.2 ROM will do nicely. Almost thinking about getting rid of my Incredible for this.

  • serenity Love

I love the look of the samsung Fascinate. I’ve checked the demo of the ATT Captivate and I couldn’t wait for VZ to release the Fascinate.

It is very unique in my opinion to the other UI I’ve seen and as a female that loves pretty bright things. The Fascinate is perfect for me.

I’m glad finally a phone that doesn’t have the industrial look thats usually for the guys. An Android thats bright and sleek… finally, I can now leave my Blackberry Curve. Disappointed that it doesn’t have 8GB.

  • daavy

the good thing is.. this phone will be rootable nearly right off the bat.. so you can remove all the bloat… plus no locked bootloader means custom roms… and no waiting to get froyo… which is a huge selling point over the X and the D2, IMO… who cares about Bing? google search and maps come from the market… dont like the way it looks? launcher pro.

  • Zach

The Verizon Wireless release date is September 9.

  • Dennis Radaman

welcome to the party vzw customers. Ive had my Captivate for about 3 weeks now and it is without a doubt the best phone I’ve ever had.
