The usual suspects, Microsoft confirms Windows Phone 7 launch partners

WindowsPhone7-12

In an interview with blog Pocket-lint, senior product manager for Microsoft, Greg Sullivan, confirmed who the Windows Phone 7 OEM launch partners would be. And… well, it’s exactly who you’d think it would be. Dell, Asus, LG, HTC, and Samsung will all have WP7 hardware being release around the launch of Microsoft’s next smartphone OS. So when is Windows Phone 7 launching? All Microsoft is saying is “holidays 2010,” which by our calendar puts WP7 in the wild sometime between November and January. Let’s hope for Microsoft’s sake it is closer to November, so they can capitalize on some of that consumeristic gluttony that goes on in the U.S. around December. Come on OEMs, is it too much trouble to ask an engineer to leave a prototype in a bar or something?

I actually can’t wait to see how these sell compared to the iPhone and the Droids. I don’t plan on getting one unless they have the Apps the other platforms offer.

People are so quick to judge. WP7 will do great. Much better than we all expect. Microsoft is quickly changing its tune on its product. Microsoft Corp. today announced record fourth-quarter revenue of $16.04 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, a 22% increase from the same period of the prior year. Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $5.93 billion, $4.52 billion and $0.51 per share, which represented increases of 49%, 48% and 50%, respectively, when compared with the prior year period.

WHAT!!! Okay haters, Keep hating.. I would expect the phone to do a lot more than what’s been reviewed so far. Windows OS has come a long way. Xbox 360 Has comes a long way. Bing has come a long way; Windows Phone 7 OS will go a long way. Don’t under estimate.

Hey Microsoft – 2006 called and it wants its operating system back.

Microsoft is 4 years behind and hasn’t got the agility required to catch up. It could be easily argued that Google and Apple will actually pull even further ahead of MS over the next 3 years.

    Game Over.

“Microsoft doesnt have the agility to catch up” WOW

toolittletoolate for you to get a clue. Microsoft is a software company that guess what specializes in building software, software development ecosystems, developer ecosystems, developer tools and has millions of developers world wide.

For your information Microsoft could take 5 years off and Google and Apple still wouldnt catch up to them in respect to having a viable development platform

not to mention they give their world class tools away to phone developers for free. (expression blend 4 for phone 7 and visual studio 2010 phone express)

and for those saying WP7 rips off droid and iphones look and feel all i can say is your missing the entire point….it is totally different

  • never too late

toolittletoolate (above) Game over? You must be new to smartphones. the game is never over if you have money. Weren’t you claiming WebO was a game changer?
