Today, HP announced that it has officially completed the acquisition of Palm. The former Palm business unit will continue with webOS development under the leadership of Jon Rubenstein who will report directly to Todd Bradley, the executive vice president of HP’s Personal Systems Group. Look for the new HP/Palm to further develop its webOS smartphone lineup as well as extend the mobile platform to slate PCs and netbooks. Anyone excited for the future of webOS now that it has some big guns behind it?

nope, Verizon has too much plus, and pixi overstock they didnt even buy any more last quarter. As well as they are only interested in Android, so you can only hope Hpalm releases something to them ever, exspecially how Verizon treated Palm. So far Sprint, AT&T are the rumors.

also for those that dont know, the palm pre and pre plus can be clocked to 1ghz now with the F105 thunder kernal. Easy to do through preware go to precentral.net forums to get the info. Test shows its faster then the EVO in some browser sites, and applications. Also battery life has been improved with the kernal, as well as the TMC error has been relieved with the compache script thats imbeded into the kernal. There is also a kernal for the PIXI, and PIXI Plus Enjoy for now, until the C40 and tablet is released.

Hell ya! Bring on some 4G WebOS handsets and tablets.

I am excited only as far as tablets go. The Pre was disappointing hardware & the opaque hasn’t had good hardware since HP acquired it, so phone wise I am not expecting any better. BUT, the Slate HP showed off at CES running WebOS could be killer! By all appearances the WebOS looks ready to be ported to such a device NOW whereas Android needs some tweaks to jump to a tablet.
