KIN ONE and TWO to get price drop from Verizon tomorrow?

Exclusive

We’ve heard that starting tomorrow, the Microsoft KIN 1 and KIN 2 will be selling for free and $49 respectively. Two year agreements are required, but without that data feature price drop, this won’t matter much.

This is something that should have happened from the begining. Though at least it is happpening. This are decent phones for the audience that they are targeted to. Though the pricing sceheme does no match that audience.

Aside from hardware pricing, the data package should be cheaper if they want this to sell…

If they really want to sell these devices, they should just drop the internet to $15 a month. Its not like you can really browse the web with them anyways. How much data could you really use by simply twitting? $30 is highway robbery.

Best Buy Mobile has been offering these prices (with out rebate) for almost three weeks…..come on Verizon!?

The issue isn’t the data pricing (these phones can be pretty data intensive) but the required voice plan.

If these were data/messaging devices with a PPU voice, (think sidekick) I think they would sell better.

It was only a matter of time. Messed around with these phones the other day at the store. Boy, are they just bad. Hopefully a software update is around the corner.

This reminds me of the blog post about Sony thinking that in 4 years 40% of Americans will have 3D TV sets…

Verizon should have KNOWN that no parent was going to dish out 30 dollars a month for this phone!!!! I don’t care how smart it is…30 dollars is laughable. That’s like Nintendo selling a new console geared at kids for 500 dollars and expecting parents to buy it for them.

Verizon, I love you…but you’re smarter than that. We’re past this, right??? Next time you get a phone, think about who can afford to pay for it. A fool would give this to their teen. A dumb woman would buy this over the palm pre or pixi. An uneducated man would…well…I can’t imagine a grown man buying this…

The issue really is Microsoft they went to Verizon and said we will pay for the phones for the training material and for the advertising if you will sell it on your network? ok..? Verizon or any other carrier would jump on that offer and they did. Even if they sold 5000 of these things Verizon still is making money because Microsoft is paying for everything.

    KIN PHONES IS FAILURE!!!!

    Dear Microsoft,

What they cost doesn’t matter so much. It’s what they’ll continue to cost that kills this product for people. Why pay for a smartphone-type data plan w/o getting smartphone-level performance?

    Mommy&daddy say no.

Of course they’re dropping the price. The phones are ugly, and nobody knows what they are. These phones are a solution in search of a problem, and a poorly executed solution at that. I’m guessing we’ll see EOL on these soon enough.
