We know that for many of you April 29th can’t come soon enough, so here’s a quick YouTube video overview of the HTC Droid Incredible to tide you over. Shot the other day during the 99% Conference in New York City, the video is a wee bit out of focus, but still manages to give you a good look at some of the features and overall speed of theĀ very well-equipped smartphone. We’ve got a feeling this is just the first of many videos we’ll see of the Droid Incredible before it officially goes on sale, but for now, hit the jump to check out the best we’ve got.

Thanks, Patrick!

Wow. I am running iPhone OS 4.0 on my iPhone 3GS and I can tell you it is the most full-featured, elegant, and responsive mobile operating system I’ve ever used. Enjoy a fragmented, half baked, and poor App selection with Android. This comment will be seriously disliked.

    • DRMATT

If you want to play in your IPhone Sandbox, then Enjoy it being locked down and watered down by Apple… I on the other hand want an Open OS on my phone that bring more than Apps and IFart to the Table!… You Idiots waited 4-5Years for Multitasking, Homescreen Backgrounds and a camera Flash… I feel sorry for YOU!

      • randy

Apple is a long way from being the “underdog” pal. Android will be the loved underdog under apple’s massive stale personality os shadow for a long time.

      • drksilenc

not really lol 60k units a day and growing fast + 2 very powerful android units hitting the market on sprint and verizon.

    • http://www.thejulyedition.com Paulie Zapps

dude, you are just a hater. apple plays a lot better when it is the underdog anyway. having a great android phone will only benefit apple in the long run: increased competition = more creative product development = happier consumers.

      • drksilenc

only if they actually pay attention to the customers. but wait isheeple so yea that will happen

  • bestbuymobile

open source format…..ihatedumdums go buy an ipad hahahah

    • Tepper

      Underdog?
      Apple?
      iPhone?

They’ve been controlling the American “smartphone” market for the past 3 and a half years.
Android is the underdog in this case.

      • brdz

        actually RIM has

  • nismo

    sill waiting for the Evo!

    • pepto

Im still waiting for the GTR-S

  • Adam L

I dunno, while the EVO is overall a better phone, I do not get Sprint coverage to take advantage of it. I CERTAINLY don’t get 4G. So to me, the Incredible is the best phone.
IMHO, which ever service works better where u live and need it…get it. If Sprint works best– use them. If AT&T works best, use them. Etc..

  • Avi

Yaa!! I cant wait….everyone needs to pre-order tomorrow!

  • TypicalAppleiPhoneDBAG

wow this is phone is solid! A SOLID PIECE OF SHIT! nothing compares to the all might apple!! i love paying for overpriced hardware and software. why would I ever want android. I will only use an android phone if my daddy steve-o tells me to! i love not being able to multitask on my iphone! who needs that shit!? why would I ever want to listen to pandora while surfing the web? why would I ever want a phone that supports flash!? Flash is so lame! it can play games, stream 70% of the content on the internet, and it’s on the most popular and most used websites! i’m going to stick with my overpriced and limited apple iphone on the awesome at&t network!

    • darwin

You certainly sound like the typical Android buyer. You know nothing about the iPhone and sound like a teenager.

      • Erockenstein

I think it’s pretty obvious that “TypicalAppleiPhoneDBAG” was joking with that comment.

      • TypicalAppleiPhoneDBAG

wow. you are a slow, dipshit retard. you didn’t catch the sarcasm?

  • JFA

T-Mobile NEEDS something like this, running Android. I won’t try the HTC HD2 simply because its running WinMo, if it had Android on it ,Then i would of gotten it on the first day.

Verizon is coming up on top with the new phones. Sprint, however, will still be killing them, and all the carriers, with the EVO 4G

    • J510

I’m sure an android port will come for the hd2, I have a nexus one on tmobile and have it running the same htc sense ui as the Incredible. It’s real sweet from my point of view

    • fluidexistence

Now, don’t take this as hostile, but I fail to see how Sprint can kill everyone with a shite network.

Yes, the EVO’s the sweetest phone on the block for the time being (when it releases), but the 4G coverage is 99% nonexistent even after roll-out unless you’re in a select major metro area. That aside, Sprint’s standard network? Also exceptionally spotty in most non-metro areas, at least in the northeast.

I’m on AT&T, just waiting to make a decision between VZ and Sprint–the biggest drivers? Yes, of course the Incredible and the EVO… Sprint’s significantly cheaper for me with my corporate discount (25% off of Sprint vs ~19% off of VZ or AT&T), which makes a difference when it’s a family plan of four–but I don’t know if I can take a network that’s actually *worse* than AT&T.

      • ….

yet another uniformed idiot talking about sprints network Twice the coverage of ATT and FAster 3g than verizon stfu gtfo gth

      • Erockenstein

        SIR CALM DOWN.

      • drksilenc

u do realize that jd power’s rankings say sprint has the best network right?

      • jawman

so you’re saying that without the 4g, Sprint’s network is spotty and unreliable, which will won’t mean a lot even though they’ll have the best phone. this sounds familiar…
oh yeah, AT&T and the iPhone.
Sprint’s network may not be as good as Verizon’s but it rapes AT&T’s.

  • darwin

Another poor copy of the iPhone.

  • zbarvian

Guys with 4.0 iPhone really will get all of the features android has but better implemented. Seriously give credit where credit is due; there would be no android if there wasn’t iPhone os. I don’t care what you guys say iPhone os is the most stable, mature os out there, and although android is very solid, it still has a little bit to go. This phone looks really promising though.

    • steel

Granted, w/o the iPhone there would be no Android. But w/o Android, the iPhone wouldn’t have gotten breakthrough features like copy/paste and multitasking.

      • NoHypeHere

Not so sure about Apple needing Android to get copy and paste or multitasking. Apple’s customers cried foul when third party apps weren’t “native” when iPhone was introduced and Steve pacified with web apps until a workaround could be implemented that would not harm user experience and phone performance.

If Apple gets a lot of grief from the masses, they will comply eventually. They just don’t verbally blast out “We hear you and we are working on it!” They hear them and quietly work on it until it is “Apple ready” to be introduced in an updated OS release / new phone model.

    • http://www.thejulyedition.com Paulie Zapps

apple needs to be the underdog. being the dominant mobile computing system doesn’t suit them. it’s why apple has less than 15% of the PC market, but something like 90% of the mindshare

      • fluidexistence

Not to be a stickler (ok, lie), but they’re actually 7.4%.

  • ExSprinter

Hey guess what, Sprint is terrible, so tout your EVO all you want but it’s on the worse network which makes people not even think twice about it, skip right over it. I’ll take the Incredible any day. I thought I was doing something by being on the cheapest network, well you get what you pay for and I learned my lesson.

    • Sprinter

Maybe you should have checked their coverage map before you locked yourself into a contract. I have Sprint and I think it’s great.

      BTW- Nice name.

      • fluidexistence

I think that’s the biggest key–if Sprint’s great where you need them and you’re not going to need usage outside of that region, go with them! I’ve seen them bend over backwards to retain customers (probably because they’re still on a attrition trendslide) and the EVO’s sweet.

    • drksilenc

o and sprint has free roaming on verizon so i guess that means verizon sucks aswell

  • zbarvian

We waited 3 years for the best mobile implementation of multitasking. All android fans claim that android is better simply because it’s open. I see it as the experience. Avatar had a weak script and decent plot line, but it was the best movie experience I’ve ever had, so I saw it three times. It’s the same with the iPhone except the iPhone already has a strong OS. Most people don’t care whether or not you can download keyboard skins or mods, they care about the overall experience. Just my two cents.

    • destardi

…I guess we’ll wait 3 years for the best Android version.

      It’s personal preference.

  • zbarvian

You mock Apple for including copy and paste because of android yet it is easily the best implementation on a smartphone and is looaaads better than the garbage android offers.

    • Tim

The bottom line people…….ATnT service is horrible…..just about every where. Verizon sounds as good as a land line. My friends that have ATnT sound like Cingular service 10 years ago………..Enjoy your toy paper weight ;)

  • zbarvian

    @GMan

    This

  • http://www.itsagadget.com Andrei

I must say that from the video Droid looks Incredible and deserves the name. We made a preview of the model here, http://www.itsagadget.com/2010/04/htc-droid-specs-are-official-incredible.html

    • destardi

I’m sick of the iphone android blah blah war. Why do stupid human beings have to break everything down into an us vs. them war?

With that said, I prefer Android because of the unlimited possibilities.

No one is going to tell me that evolution for the better will not occur over many diverse handsets from many hardware makers, vs. one platform on one phone.

      No one.

      • Dave

        Its in our genetics lol

  • http://(null) Dallas

it’s just the HTC Desire with beefed up specs.

Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone) at: Oklahoma City United States

  • Janet

Does anyone know if Verizon will get a phone like the Galaxy S series?

    That’s the one I want.

This HTC is nice but looks just like a beefed up Eris. Nothing really exciting and looks like alll other HTC phones as of late.

I’m not really excited about the EVO either. Too wide and locked down to Sprint who I’ll never ever use again.

Why does Verizon insist on using CDMA only Droid’s too? Do none of their subs ever travel? They need to add HSPA or HSPA + bands to their high end smartphones.

    • Jeffrey

Hi Janet: I agree with you completely. This phone is cool but nothing really exciting. Sure the specs are decent but other than a few nerds who get orgasmic over these details the average customer won’t care or notice.

I think it’s funny that 2 years ago when the G1 was debuted Verizon was arrogant and touted they have no need to consider Android since they were pushing Limo instead.

Now Verizon knows there only hope against the marketing machine of Apple is to push Android like there’s no tomorrow.

If there is anything positive in this story, it’s how the iPhone finally caused Verizon to get off its laurels and start providing better quality phones with better features. Just a year ago didn’t care that their red bar UI”d phones were ugly and locked down because they felt their customers only liked them for their network. How times and competition has changed things.

      • Mark R

Yeah whatever happened to Limo anyways? Verizon used to preach that Limo was the way of the future while they brushed aside Android.

    • fluidexistence

Agreed on the travel component–with global traveling not unheard of in my role, I don’t know that I want to lock into VZ at this time with their lack of int’l coverage despite having superior domestic service.

      Plus, they cost the most.

  • Michael Scott

I’m soo glad I didn’t drink the moto Droid koolaid…I’m getting the Incredible on the 29th!

    • Mark R

Yeah the Droid is a phone that nerds love.

For the rest of us, it’s too bulky (like a SS fridge), has sharp corners, terrible HW keyboard and is overall unattractive.

Try telling that to the nerds who bought one using their subsidy discount and are stuck on a 2 year contract with a $350 ETF to boot! ;-)

They’ll just lash out at you and defend their purchase but on the inside they’re kicking themselves.

      • Boss

This is a Verizon Wireless discussion. They hate when people make fun of their phones. Be warned. They take their ugly Droids seriously!

  • Pahlevan

The talk time of this device sucks big time! It supports only up to 312 minutes talk time!!

    • Gerald

With Verizon’s high prices, ETF and Android w/o global roaming, it makes it easy to walk away now that my contract ends next week.

That and they now force data plans on my wife and kids regular phones when they don’t need it.

  • Joe

How the fuck can a Verizon customer talk about how “bad” sprints network is… Do you really think its THAT much better just because you pay more? Being that I had both they are pretty much the same thing with the roaming agreements… Except sprint is cheaper. I’m not poor or anything but its pointless to spend more for no reason. In fact my sprint phone seemed to have faster data speeds on verizons network that the verizon phone did… Sad but true. So shut the hell up, if you like verizon, fine, good for you, be happy that the incredible is coming out and looks like it’ll be Verizon’s best phone to date easily. but it doesn’t mean that your shit doesn’t stink because of it.

    • Gerald

      You tell ‘em Joe.

I live in an area where both T-Mobile and Sprint work just as well as Verizon (SoCal) but try convincing a Verizon customer used to overpaying each month this. They don’t want to hear it. They rather hang on to stories and myths that only Verizon works in their house.

      • Joe B.

T-Mobile the one network that isn’t even planning to offer a 4G network anytime even remotely soon. Great value moving forward. Definitely the company to lock into a contract with.

  • itch808

    omg, awesome video! thanks!

  • Homer

    @ StevenGlansburg

The iPhone was cool in 2008, now all they do is re-release the damn thing every year with an addition of a feature or 2 that the motorola razr had. (video camera, flash on the camera, the ability to add a wallpaper etc) if you really go buy it every year for these minor additions then you are indeed retarded.

  • Jason

The Incredible is now available on Verizon’s web site and it’s only $99.00 if you are eligible for an upgrade

    • Alex

99? It shows 199 on mine. Unless you have to be logged in to see the $99 price tag.

That would be awesome news however.

      • Legend

Probably includes NE2 for that particular customer. I paid $199.00
