Rogers readying to launch the Samsung Galaxy Spica at $79.99

Review

Another day, yet another Android handset headed to Canada? In the words of Palin, “you betcha!” The Samsung Galaxy Spica, which was unveiled this past November, will purportedly go for $79.99 on a 3-year contract while also being available for $449.99 without strings. Not too bad considering the fact it has a 3.2″ AMOLED capacitive display, 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and a 800MHz processor. So far there is a bit of confusion about what OS it will ship with, but some people who say they are in the know think the Galaxy Spica will be shipped out with Android 2.0 as opposed to 1.5. We’ll let you know what’s up as soon as we find out ourselves.

This phone, not to be mean or anything….Looks like a phone Buzz Lightyear would use.

Shouldn’t smartphone that come with big Data Plans, be made for adults and not look like toys….

    • QuickWeevil

Definitely marketed towards the high school crowd… It has bling on one of the physical buttons for Christ’s sake! haha

By the time Rogers releases this and the next gen of Android phones in Canada, the world will be on Android 3.0.

why is it worth more of bgr’s time to remove the exposure of spammers … than remove the spam itself? hhhhmmmmm . . . ? ? ?

after claiming you had complete command of the situation 19 days ago, boy genius, these spammers are really making a laughingstock fool [small-f] of you. their drive-by spam posts always appear halfway down the page of stories as they are too cowardly to post their shit in new entries.

as evidence: http://www.bgr.com/2010/03/02/photos-of-rims-blackberry-storm3-slider/comment-page-4/#comment-791488 i could post links to the other 93, but i don’t want to pollute the place.

    remove that spam, coward!

so, genius — how much is pinoytutorial (the origin of the filipino spam) paying you to insult our intelligence? is it worth it?

    answer the question.

    genius?

    bueller?

      Mr. Readers Aren’t Stupid-

Please email me andrew(at)boygeniusreport.com with the list of 94 SPAM messages you are concerned with. I will look over each one. If they are in fact SPAM I will remove them.

      Thank you.

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

        Mr Munchbach:

You can begin with the removal and subsequent PUBLIC admission that the post I referred to in the post immediately prior to yours is, in fact, SPAM from PINOYTUTORIAL.

Given the irresponsibly childish treatment received from you and by your co-workers, including “Management”, there will not be an email forthcoming from me. I will most happily oblige you in PUBLIC, however.

        Thank you.

      • Andrew Munchbach

Yes, it appears that pinoytutorial is cross linking to his own site. He also seems to do it on other blogs, not just BGR. I’ve removed posts from said user that cross link to his site, as they appear to be, as you have said, spam.

If you are concerned about a particular user/trend please don’t hesitate to email me.

        Thank you.

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

if you’re looking for the same user name from their spammers, you’ll overlook 99% of them.

        such as: http://www.bgr.com/2010/02/15/att-to-sell-apple-ipad-3g-in-stores/comment-page-2/#comment-777681

only 93 (of the most recent 3 weeks worth of spam) to go.

now that wasn’t so hard. was it? :)

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

Oh, and one more thing. No public acknowledgment of my post above and no removal/acknowledgment of that SPAM and this only continues. Coolio?

      • Andrew Munchbach

I’m publicly acknowledging that you’ve found some spam and that I have removed it :-)

        Thank you.

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

You’ve removed one SPAM post (of the 2 examples I just provided). 93+ to go. I’ve done my homework. Have you?

By the way, what exactly is the plan for PREVENTING further SPAM in the future? They certainly won’t volunteer to stop out of the goodne$$ of their heart$.

      • Andrew Munchbach

Please shoot me an email and we’ll discuss. andrew(at)boygeniusreport.com

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

Sorry, but that’s been asked and answered. I’m sure you understand, given the track record of the last 3 weeks. Public is cool!

Now … About that plan to PREVENT new SPAM from showing up several blog entries down on the page every single day? …

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

Don’t tell me that you’re pulling a BoyGenius and lying about the removal of all that SPAM?!

When you’re only batting .500 for 2 SPAM urls provided to you on the same page within minutes of each other … It’s not exactly encouraging, ya know?

Especially when you make it oh-so-obvious that “other” posts are removed. ;)

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

I take that back, Mr Munchbach. I see that you’ve been busy and I thank you for it. However, there are others that you’re not finding so far from the pinoytutorial-spam folks and from a couple other sources.

      • jerbear

Does anyone else see the irony in someone posting this many times about spam? Half the comments in this thread are from Mr. Aren’t Stupid here and I have yet to see a single spam. You realize that cleaning up forums is a constant battle for admins right?

      • Readers Aren’t Stupid

First of all, these are NOT threads. Nor is this a FORUM. It’s a blog and its COMMENT area. There are very effective plugins available for blogs which prevent and/or remove SPAM.

It’s obvious with all the EXTREMELY misogynist posts under news every entry that BGR considers its comments area a virtual wasteland (Kelly Hodgkins must LOVE the company BGR keeps).

As I’ve been informing Genius for weeks now, these SPAMMERS only post their shit after news articles begin to drop halfway down the first page. They try to be sneaky in that special Filipino way.

Not that this phone is beautifully designed or anything but doesn’t it make the Behold II look like the biggest afterthought in design history? This should’ve been the Behold II and the Behold II should never have happened.

  • Readers Aren’t Stupid

I take that back, Mr Munchbach. I see that you’ve been busy and I thank you for it. However, there are others that you’re not finding so far from the pinoytutorial-spam folks and from a couple other sources.

This is a Samsung Moment without keyboard.

  • Rob Schoenfeld

I new oled screens could produce more vibrant colors but the white that screen is producing is simply stunning. Damn. Puts the Nexus One screen to shame and that’s saying a lot.

Thanks BGR for your vigilance. This site is no longer work friendly. Toodles.
