FCC docs hint at a May launch for an AT&T branded Palm Pre

Rumor

new-att-logo2

In a series of discoveries that would make Sir Arthur Conan Doyle proud, Pre Central forum member ToniCipriani may have uncovered the release date for the AT&T version of the Palm Pre. Both the Sprint and the Verizon version of the Pre have passed through the FCC with a confidentiality date that ended on or about the actual launch date. Buried within the FCC documents for a third version of the Palm Pre, with AT&T friendly 850/1900 GSM and WCDMA bands II/V, is a short term confidentiality end date of May 10th, 2010. If history is any indicator, then we can expect the Palm Pre to drop on AT&T in May, a mere 11 months after the handset’s original launch. Anyone up for an AT&T Palm Pre Plus Plus?

    AT&T doesn’t suck EVERYWHERE. Here in the upper Midwest I’ve never had any problems with AT&T’s network. Palm Pre on AT&T? Probably. I had one on Sprint and gave it back to go back to AT&T because CDMA doesn’t work in my neighborhood and other areas I frequent.

    @Cingular
    You have no idea what you are talking about. Eventually VZW will use LTE for both data and voice. But at first (because LTE wont be everywhere) they will use LTE for only data and switch it over after 2011 because they have to keep CDMA up and running for people with older phones. And it is not like VZW has to build all new towers, again…this is what I do.
    There is a reason why VZW kills every other carrier in every survey in every region, it is not hype, but so many GSM guys talk like you, in denial.
    Again, I carry every carriers phone as a part of my job, I travel across the country monthly fixing and setting up crap, and I carry VZW for my personal phone because it just works better 80% of the time.
    And your point about VZW financials, if you actually understood what you were trying to say that would be one thing. VZW (wireless) is by far the strongest financially, do some research before you talk about companies being in debt. AT&T looses money on every iPhone customer gained, they ony hope to get a family with every iPhone they sell, ATT wireless may be the second strongest financially, but VZW is not even publicly traded, that gives them leverage and flexibility that other carriers dont have. But dont take my word on it, look into it for yourself, but I doubt you will.

      are u nuts .. yes you are right verizon is better in some areas but to say verizon is not publcly traded! VZ is there ticket symbol. you need to see how much money Verizon LOST !! last qtr .. ATT made record profits WAKE up the Towers are getting to…

    If the Pre arrives on at&t unchanged, I will be a little disappointed. But that doesn’t mean I won’t give it a try, because I have avoided using one knowing that if I really liked it, I could never use it!

    Actually Verizon Wireless is not publicly traded. They are a partnership between Verizon Communications and Vodafone. Verizon Communications (landline provider) lost money last year but Verizon Wireless posted a $15 Billion profit for 2009.
