Verizon Wireless and Google announce partnership, handsets coming soon

moto-sholes-teaser

Google and Verizon just held a conference call and in plain terms, are going to be announcing Android handsets for Verizon’s network in the “next few weeks.” It’s nice to see both companies finally joining up, but to be honest, all we care about it is the October 30th launch date for the Sholes/Tao/Droid that we outed yesterday. Boo-yah!

    Anyone know if they are going to release a phone with the snapdragon processor? That will be the day I get a new phone

    Hopefully it looks exactly like that. The one pictured with the red “d-pad” is hideous. I read somewhere that a titanium and black model will be made. I really like the one pictured above.

    Digging the shameless promotion for your blog. You could have just posted those same thoughts on the comments here. Whatever it takes to generate some traffic. Regardless, good points you make in your linked blog.

    I agree with you all the way. Verizon Wireless is kicking itself into full gear releasing phones & improving as a dominant wireless provider. Verizon Wireless is known as a wireless carrier that people love to hate. People that can’t admit that the carrier is so good people choose it for a reason. Good Network, no drop calls, excellent voice. Phones are improving.

    @VZW,

    Easy here. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment. When was the last time Verizon released a totally open handset?

    I don’t think they’ll release a Moto Android handset. If they do, ask yourself how much Verizon vaporware will come on the handset.

    1) Most likely will not be able to access Android store, unless restricted by Verizon firmware.
    2) Mandatory data plan.

    In Metro areas where T-Mobile has 3G don’t be upset with your Android counterparts experience being better than yours. Simultaneous voice and data. Pulling up info while telling you about their finds. So much for the network.

    @Cingulair

    Get rid of mostly that entire argument except for “2) Mandatory data plan.” and you have a valid argument. Everybody’s main argument against Verizon is their fiddling with phones; Sholes is already set to be a Google Experience (not Verizon Experience) phone so there will be no Verizon crap on there unless they add their programs to the Google Marketplace. Verizon has already promised not to hinder phones on their network and except for the case of the BL40 it looks like theyre holding up to that.

    And since when has T-Mobile had a better network than Verizon? The only problem I’ve ever had with my calls is in the remote countryside where nobody else had signal but me, so I think that statement should stand as invalid.
