Carrier Wars: Last but not least, T-Mobile

General

What a long strange trip it’s been, mobile fans. Our Carrier Wars series has managed to tons of conversation surrounding the state of wireless carriers here in the US. Sure a lot of it is senseless banter, but beyond that there are legions of subscribers who are genuinely interested in learning what kind of performance BGR readers from across the country experience on their respective carriers. We told you each of the big four here in the US would be covered and sure enough, here we are at the last stop: T-Mobile USA. While T-Mobile’s 3G network is still in its infancy — albeit horribly late in the game — subscribers are often quick to sing Tmo’s 3G performance praise. Well T-Moblers, it’s your time to shine. If you have a 3G-ready handset and happen to find yourself in a covered region, we want to know what kind of speed you’re seeing. Remember, an ideal report includes handset model, AVERAGE download speed, AVERAGE upload speed and a link to a screenshot of your test. Feel free to throw your maximum speed numbers in there as well but they don’t concern us. Ok — hit the comments section and get to work!

Sprint is for high Speed data customers and have been around since the 1930s so he doesnt know that even Sprint stock is the winner today lol

  • Darwin

Not sure how that’s possible since T-Mobile has stated that they are currently limiting 3G speeds to 1 Mbps.

  • Darwin

T-Mobile currently limits data speeds to 1 Mbps while they are building out their network, so while they can technically provide speeds equal to At&t’s 3.6 Mbps they don’t right now.

I just got my brand new Touch Pro 2 yesterday. It’s a nice phone, but I didn’t find the 3G speeds too impressive. It was certainly faster than the EDGE on my Shadow, but still, you know?

I looked all over the web to do the test in Windows Mobile on Opera 9.6 with both download and upload speeds. I couldn’t find one. But the last speedtest I ran, it yielded a

    399kbps download speed.

Sorry, I don’t have a UL result for you BGR! If anyone points me to a place that can do that on WM, I will be sure to run the test.

I think its pathetic that the cqrrier war winner hasnt been announced yet. Its obvious that tmo is doing much better than anticipated by the bgr staff. I imagine they are finding a way to get around these results. Cant wait to hear how verizon and sprint rock and tmobile just plain sucks. So predictable.

I agree. Just because your wife is a lawyer, it does not mean she is smarter than anyone else on the board. My brother is a lawyer too….and though I

  • ken

What does your wife being a lawyer have ANYTHING to do with this conversation. My sister is an ER doctor, brother is a dentist and my other brother is a lawyer. They are all good at what they do, but they hardly have any common sense.
So, no – it doesn’t mean she is an idiot, but it sure does NOT convince me to try that phone/or service based on the fact that you stated she was a lawyer….who cares?

Well I can’t wait to get one of these myself, personally.
