Thirteen year old is winner of iTunes one billion app countdown contest

General

Conner Mulcahey of Weston, CT was the lucky downloader of Apple’s one billionth App Store app. A we all know, the young lad will walk away with a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod Touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro — a booty which will undoubtedly make him the envy of all his peers. The mystery question is not what he gets with all that iTunes dough, but what was he downloading? Contrary to what might be expected from a young teen, it was not iFart but rather Bump, a contact swapping application from Bump Technologies. Congratulations to Connor on his winnings and congrats to Bump for the free PR!

@RogerA who said: “First off, I don’t have nor want kids… I am not jealous in any way, shape, or form. I’m simply stating how a contest has legalities that have been overlooked.”

Firstly, you’ve just been made the poster child for the support of the morning-after pill. Congrats!

Secondly, Your unfounded, false-premise is duly noted, as your ‘opinion’ is completely outside the rules and regs [which you would not dare to acknowledge]. Keep slingin’ the shit, Bunky (like any force of nature could possibly intervene in the name of dignity and integrity anyway ;) ].

Let me just clarify how silly and childish each and every one of you is acting. Nothing more than “Congrats, kid” should have been said here.

There’s no need to question legalities (Apple would not have awarded it to a 13 year-old if there were legal issues); there’s no need to say whether or not the winner will enjoy or use his winnings (will it really give you any satisfaction knowing what he’ll do with a $10,000 gift card?); there’s no need to flame each other over the ‘internets’ just to prove a point (I really don’t have to break this one down, do I?); and there sure as hell is no need to continue posting on this topic 2 days after it was posted.

Get on with your lives, people.

    Congrats, Conner.

I really don’t care if a 13 year old boy won or not. I like kids. Well most of them. I made the mistake of talking about how a lot of kids today act way more entitled and disrespectful and are being allowed to do so. There are obviously many great kids, the kind parents would trade their kids for. That having been said I believe in what goes around comes around. So congratulations to Conner. If he truly deserves to win then that’s how it should be and if not it’s not my problem his karma will fix it. I wish him all the best and to the rest of you calm down. Is this really worst thing Apple has done to get people so uptight. Come on I would be more upset that a newer iPhone is coming out and we will then know how 2G owners feel. That’s when I will get jealous.
