BlackBerry 8120 Correction; New Information on the BlackBerry 8110

Exclusive

It appears we were a little off with our previous posting, stating the BlackBerry 8120 would feature both Wi-Fi and GPS. From the FCC filings, assuming the information released is the final release version for the United States, it is revealed that RIM has not, in fact, overcome the technology that barrier that did not allow them to place both receivers in the 8300 series, so expect the BlackBerry 8120 model to hit the shelves with Wi-Fi capabilities only. Also, for T-Mobile adopters who are salivating at the thought of another Pearl to add to your library collection, better hold your breath, as this model should launch first on AT&T.

In other news, we are hearing the BlackBerry 8110, which will feature a GPS receiver, will be on target for a launch in early 2008. We reported on this device back in July, and more recently have started to think that it would never see the light of day. Now, with all the hooplah and hype surrounding the BlackBerry 9100 release at some point next year, we have to wonder if both the BlackBerry 8110 and BlackBerry 8120 are too much of an upgrade too late in the game in the United States. Perhaps if it launched sometime in the neighborhood as our European brethren, these extensions of the Pearl family would have a better chance at stateside success. Only time will tell, though.

Yes, these phones should’ve been released MONTHS ago. So, why AT&T first? T-mobile better get their act together!

Why does BGR continue to publish shit that ain’t true? Wait a f’ng day or so and speak the truth.

The way the 8120 documentation was set up got us a little excited too when we saw a GPS section in the table of contents. Turns out it’s just instructions on how to connect by Bluetooth.

I think that if they could ditch that stupid suretype thing and put in a real keyboard (then we’d have a Curve) then I would get one.

How bad if RIM’s R&D if they do not allow for GPS and Wifi? These features have been in existence for awhile. Pretty embarassing for those guys when they have to give an answer why they cannot match the features of their competitors, “Um, we don’t have the room in the cases”.

Thanks a lot RIM for ruining my Xmas hopes. They should change your name to RIMJOB cause thats what you guys do all day long, stick your head up each others asses. Seriously with a company this big and the money they have, they can’t even hire a team of wiz kids from MIT to get something to fit WiFi & GPS in the case. Cmon,THATS BULLSHIT!.Dont even get me started on the fact that T-mobile has to wait. That is the BS of the bureaucracy of the FCC. I wonder if T-mobile wasnt a foreign owned TCC company if they would have a better chance at greese-ing the guys in Washington to get exclusive phones and stuff pushed out a lot sooner

Bo-hoo listen to all the whinners today. What did you trully expect with the new pearl its still an 81xx series blackbery, just take a moment and compare it to the 83xx series. The 8300 is to the 8100 as the 8320 is to the 8120 Cmon guys one again what did you expect. Plus for under 100 bucks you can pick up a gps puck and use gps with the pearl. Now am not sure why Att picked up the bb 8820 with uma/wifi without supporting any type of uma services. Att should put theirefforts towards getting a umts blackberry to market and leave wifi-uma blackberries alone The spead diffrence between wifi and umts isn’t that noticable and with out uma support why bother with a wifi blackberry if you could get one with umts instead.

  • phoneking13
