Last month, Tesla wowed the automotive world when it unveiled a new Model S with a 100kWh battery option. With the new P100D option, Tesla’s top of the line Model S is an absolute beast and can go from o-60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds in Ludicrous Mode. As Tesla CEO Elon Musk apprpriately boasted, the P100D is the fastest production car on the planet.
With Model S P100D deliveries now underway, we’re already seeing videos showcasing what Tesla’s latest speed demon can do out on the road. During a brief performance review, DragTimes last week confirmed the car’s incredible 0-60 time while also observing that it can go from 0-100 in 6.5 seconds flat and is capable of completing a quarter-mile in a blazing fast 10.7 seconds.

That’s all well and good, but the real fun lies when a Model S goes head to head with a supercar that can sometimes cost two to three times as much as a Tesla. That said, DragTimes was at it again this weekend when it matched up Tesla’s new Model S P100D against a Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 which costs, at a minimum, $237,000.
Now we’ve seen a Model S P85D get absolutely torched by a Hurracan before, but the Model S P100D is undoubtedly a step up in competition.
So let’s see what happens, shall we?
As evidenced in the video below, the Model S gets out to an early lead and maintains it for much longer than the Model S P85D was able to pull off. Whereas the Hurracan caught up with the Model S P85D after just about a second, the P100D held on for at least a good 10 seconds.
A few years ago, it would have sounded crazy to see an EV keep pace with a bona fide super car, but Elon Musk and Tesla have pulled it off in impressive fashion. Lastly, and as a point of reference, the Lambo above can go from 0-60 in about 3.2 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 200 MPH.
