If there were ever a time to consider dumping your ISP in favor of Verizon’s FiOS service, this might be it. According to FierceWireless, Verizon is running a limited-time promotion in the Northeastern United States that will give customers a chance to double their mobile data allotment when they sign up for FiOS.

The regional offer will double the monthly mobile data packages for any customers with an XL or XXL plan who sign up for FiOS. That means that XL users will see their data jump from 12GB to 24GB and XXL users to upgrade from 18GB to 36GB.
Interestingly, Verizon hasn’t officially announced the promotion as of Tuesday morning, but FierceWireless was able to confirm with a spokesman from the carrier that the campaign is indeed real. Unfortunately, the spokesman was not able to say how long the promotion might last or whether it would spread to other regions.
Having reportedly added only 99,000 subscribers to its FiOS service in the fourth quarter of 2015, after bringing in 145,000 subscribers in the same period in 2014, it’s not surprising that Verizon would be looking for new ways to drum up interest. Now if the company could just expand the service’s availability, we might be on to something.
