Google Vs Nest Employee Memes

As has been observed many times over the past couple of weeks, Google’s acquisition of Nest has basically turned into a giant dumpster fire. In short, Nest’s product portfolio has grown very slowly since its acquisition by Google and its revenues are way below expectations. Additionally, Nest CEO Tony Fadell sounds like a complete nightmare to work for and he’s shown that he’s not afraid to disparage a large number of former employees after they leave the company.

In fact, things have apparently gotten so bad at Nest that Google employees routinely generate memes that mock the company and send them around the office, as a new report from Re/code shows.

Re/code managed to obtain some Nest-related memes created through Google’s internal “Memegen” system. Here’s a sample of their work:

That second meme is a reference to the Revolv automation hub that Nest has decided to shut down after acquiring it back in 2014.

This one, however, speaks for itself:

There are two remarkable things about this. First, there’s the fact that Google employees have so much disdain fellow Alphabet employees that they would make internal memes about that. Second, there’s the fact that they hate Nest so much that they would leak these memes to the media. I have read about a lot of ridiculous dysfunction during my time as a tech blogger but I’ve never read something quite like that.

At any rate, this is just a small sampling of the memes that Google employees have created about Nest. To check out more, visit Re/code’s full report here.
