Let it never be said that Apple doesn’t listen to its customers. Just two weeks after Apple’s iOS 10.2 beta 1 update killed the beloved “peach butt” emoji in favor of something more realistic, iOS 10.2 beta 3 is here, along with a newly naughty fruit.
The original peach emoji has long been used to signify a plump rump, and it’s easy to see why. I mean just look at this thing:
So, when Apple replaced it with a more realistic looking peach in the 10.2 beta 1 release of iOS, things didn’t go well. There’s really no denying that the more “real” peach just doesn’t have the same personality:
Serial sexters immediately cried foul, and demanded that the glorious booty be returned to its former glory, but it was little more than a shot in the dark, with no guarantee that Apple would respond or even notice.
But notice they did, and with the rollout of iOS 10.2 beta 3, a peach with the appeal of the original, and the more realistic tone of its immediate successor, is here to save your late-night iMessage escapades:
So why the sudden change of heart? It’s hard to say. Perhaps the peach from beta 1 was just a temporary placeholder while the original got its dramatic retouching, or maybe Apple did a sext focus group and found that the new version just wasn’t titillating enough.
The world may never know why, but it’s safe to say that countless dirty conversations have forever been rescued from the pitfalls of a peach that just wasn’t sexy enough. Bravo, Apple. Bravo.
