Motorola is not ready to say anything about the Moto X+1, its next-gen Moto X version that has only appeared in various leaks so far. However, Droid-Life has now learned from some of its sources that Verizon is “currently expecting the new Moto X by September 25th.”

FROM EARLIER: New benchmark suggests the Moto X+1 will have the killer specs you’ve been craving

The company said in February that the next Moto X will be launched in late summer, although September 25th doesn’t quite qualify as summer anymore. There’s always a chance that Verizon will simply be late to the Moto X+1 party, and that other U.S. carriers will actually launch the handset by September 22nd, which is when summer officially ends.

An unreleased Motorola smartphone with Verizon branding has recently been spotted in a photograph, the XT1096, and while it’s believed the device could be the Moto X+1, Motorola has yet to confirm it. A similar model, the XT1097, appeared in a benchmark test, revealing certain specs for the handset.

It’s not clear at this time whether the Moto 360 smartwatch will be launched at the same time with the Moto X+1, a move that would make sense for the company. For what it’s worth, an earlier report confirmed that the Moto 360 will hit Australia in the fourth quarter of 2014, by Christmas at the latest.
