Imagine for a second that we lived at the same time as the events that took place in Star Wars. And then imagine that regardless of the side we’d be on, we lived in a region of the universe that saw plenty of combat. If that were the case, some of the amazing Star Wars battleships that fans love so much might land (and crash-land) on our planet on a rather regular basis.

One French photographer and artist toyed with that idea, and the results are incredible. Art director Nicolas Amiard imagined how major cities around the world would look like after easily recognizable Star Wars battleships crash-landed, using pictures of various landmarks and digital renders of Star Wars ships.

“I thought the scene of the crashed destroyer in the latest trailer very inspiring. Star Wars is an imaginary universe and bringing elements from this universe in our real world seemed to be a very interesting contrast to work on,” Amiard told Mashable.

The following set of pictures shows some of Amiard’s creations, with more available at the source links.
