If you haven’t had the chance to attend E3, we can tell you from first-hand experience that it’s a mess. A raucously fun mess, but a mess nonetheless. There’s nothing quite like sitting with a crowd of thousands of other gamers and being genuinely surprised by the big announcement that didn’t leak or stifling laughter when a demo bombs.
Sony wants to bring as many fans as possible an experience that emulates the real thing, which is why this year, you’ll be able to go to a local movie theater to watch the press conference live with fans from your home town. They’re calling it the PlayStation E3 Experience, and it’ll be live in theaters on June 9th at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT.
Not only will you be able to sit back and watch the press conference in full, Geoff Keighley will be hosting a post-show with developer interviews and extended footage from the new PS4 games as well. Anyone who attends will also receive an exclusive PlayStation surprise, which could honestly be anything. I have no idea.
Check out the PlayStation Blog for the full list of theaters that will be hosting the event throughout the U.S. and Canada. The event is free of charge, but space is limited, so act fast and RSVP at this link if this sounds like something you might want attend.
