YouTube has announced a partnership with MGM today that will bring new full-length content to YouTube. Previously, YouTube has inked deals for full length content with Time Warner’s HBO, CBS’s Showtime and CBS’s archived television shows that include “Star Trek,” “Young and the Restless” and “Beverly Hills 90210.” This new partnership will initially bring two new channels to YouTube. One channel will show full length episodes of “American Gladiator” while the other channel will feature full-length action films like “Bulletproof Monk” and “The Magnificent Seven”. Both channels will be ad supported with advertisements running alongside the videos. Though we doubt programming content like “American Gladiators” will have Hulu shaking in its boots, it is another step forward in the online video streaming arena which is definitely a good thing.
