Often referred to in reports as the “iPhone 6c,” Apple’s rumored 4-inch new iPhone has been featured in many leaks lately. A new report now suggests that the handset will be so similar to the 2013 iPhone 5c that existing cases for the previous-generation iPhone will match the upcoming new model.

Previous reports said the iPhone 6c will be a metal 4-inch device rather than a plastic handset like the iPhone 5c. But GizmoChina says its sources have revealed the iPhone 6c will have the same design as the iPhone 5c, though it’s not clear whether that means the new model will also be made of plastic.
GizmoChina further says the news comes directly from factory sources, adding that protective accessories for the iPhone 5c will still fit the iPhone 6c.
Recent reports have claimed that the iPhone 6c will be made by Foxconn and that Apple will launch the device at some point in late October or early November. Furthermore, a picture depicting a case mockup also emerged from a case maker earlier this week, though the image didn’t reveal any actual details about the iPhone 6c’s design.
Apple is will hold its 2015 fall iPhone event on September 9th, with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus being the stars of the show.
