Apple has just announced by way of a press release from Cupertino, that the company has sold it’s one millionth iPhone effective this morning. Given all the hype and mania surrounding the handset, it’s important to remember that it has only been on the market for roughly 2 months (74 days, to be exact). Pushing a million units of anything, let alone something of this cost in such a competitive market, is a Herculean feat. In the press release, Steve Jobs notes that it took them almost two years to sell the same number of iPods. Given the recent price drop, we’re confident that the numbers will continue to rise in Apple’s favor, though it will be interesting to see if the new iPod Touch affects a change in sales rates. Whatever the case, and regardless of your feelings about Apple and the iPhone, a moment of acknowledgment is in order…..there, feel better?
