Samsung is hard at work on the next-gen Galaxy S flagship. Expected to be called Galaxy S7 and come in at least two versions, one of which sporting a curved Edge display, and more rumors are already offering details on Samsung’s upcoming innovations.

Unsurprisingly, the next Galaxy S7 is expected to steal one of the phone features that are unique to the iPhone 6s for the time being. The company is reportedly partnering with Synaptics for ClearForce technology similar to Apple’s 3D Touch screen tech, and has patents of its describing pressure-sensitive displays.
Other reports from a Chinese leaker who took to Weibo to share details about the upcoming smartphone indicate that the Galaxy S7 will pack an Exynos 8890 processor and 20-megapixel ISOCELL camera. Interestingly, the handset is rumored to pack even better audio than its predecessor, the SABRE9018AQ2M, or the world’s most powerful 32-bit stereo converter for mobile devices.
The phone should also have USB Type-C connectivity and feature a glass and magnesium design. It’s not clear at this time whether Samsung will use glass for both the front and back of the handset, like it did for the Galaxy S6 series, or whether it’ll use metal for the phone’s shell.
More interestingly, a report from Korea suggests Samsung will launch the Galaxy S7 even faster than expected, echoing a similar recent rumor. According to ETNews, the Galaxy S7 might be announced as soon as January, two months before the next MWC edition, the event where the Galaxy S6 phones were unveiled this year. SamMobile expects the Galaxy S7 to arrive in at least two variations, including “premium” and “sub-premium” models.
ETNews’ report also says the phone might pack an ePoP chip design supposed to improve efficiency, as the system would integrate even more components and sensors – Samsung unveiled its ePoP chip technology earlier this year.
