New leak reveals the first Microsoft-branded Lumia phone

First Microsoft Lumia Phone Leaked Photo

2014 has been a very quiet year for Windows Phone and we’ve been wondering when Microsoft would finally give the platform the high-end flagship device that it deserves. And unfortunately it looks like we’re still going to have to wait a while to get it because a new leak reveals that the first Microsoft-branded Lumia phone is going to be yet another budget model aimed at cost-conscious buyers in emerging markets.

RELATED: Here’s what to do if you accidentally buy a Windows Phone has spotted a listing for a device called the Microsoft Lumia RM-1090 on the website of Chinese carrier Tenaa that reveals a budget device with a 5-inch display and a thick 9.32-millimeter frame. Other specs for the device include a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a 1,905mAh battery.

While this is clearly not the high-end sequel to 2013’s Lumia 1020 we’ve been hoping for, it is a sign that Microsoft is finally ready to start cranking out its own smartphone hardware. Windows Phone has been either stagnant or declining in most markets for the past year so the company has no time to waste if it wants to have any shot of breaking through into a hugely competitive market.

We’ve posted one picture of the new Lumia phone below but you should head over to to take a look at the rest.
