Deez Nuts For President Poll

Would you vote for Deez Nuts? That’s the question polling firm Public Policy Polling recently asked voters in North Carolina and it found that 9% of them would choose Deez Nuts over Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. But who is Deez Nuts?

The Daily Beast reports that the candidate is actually a 15-year-old boy named Brady Olson from Iowa who has filled out paperwork to run as an independent under the pseudonym of Deez Nuts. The ambitious teenager even has something resembling a plan to start gaining support for his independent bid despite the fact that he’s constitutionally ineligible to serve as president.

“The next step is to get some party nominations, like the Minnesota Independence Party or the Modern Whig Party,” Olson tells The Daily Beast. “It would also be great to find a VP, preferably McCubbins because the Nuts/McCubbins ticket sounds amazing.”

Olson got on Public Policy Polling’s radar by contacting the firm and explaining that he was running for president as Deez Nuts and asking it to mention him as an option in a future poll. PPP, which is known for taking fun and offbeat polls on issues that range from politics to sports to popular culture, was happy to take him up on the offer.

While Deez Nuts seems to have a small-but-dedicated following in North Carolina so far, the candidate still has a name recognition problem. As the following PPP question shows, 81% of North Carolina voters have no idea what to think of Deez Nuts:
