Barnes & Noble announces NOOKcolor, full touchscreen e-reader

Today, at a special press event, Barnes & Noble took the wraps off of their NOOKcolor e-reader. As you may have deduced from the name, the new device packs a full-color display. The new, touch-sensitive display measures 7-inches on the diagonal, utilizes the IPS display technology, and has a 1024 x 600 resolution with 169 pixels per inch. The device will have 8GB of built-in storage and a micro-SD card slot that can accommodate another 32GB of space. The NOOKcolor, which will be based on the Android platform, will also have a  3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi b/g/n, micro USB port, and will support several third-party apps such as Pandora, Chess, and a media player.
