New report reveals crucial design details for Apple’s iWatch

Apple iWatch Leaked Features

What, you didn’t really think Apple would release a smartwatch with a boxy-looking face like the Galaxy Gear, did you? Business Insider flags a new research note from Rosenblatt Securities analyst Brian Blair, who just got back from Taiwan and who has learned some crucial design details of Apple’s fabled iWatch.

The biggest news is that the device will feature a round face, which means it will look much more like Motorola’s stylish Moto 360 smartwatch than most of the other smartwatches we’ve seen released onto the market so far. Blair’s sources also say that the iWatch will have a “slimmer profile” than the Moto 360, which isn’t too surprising since Apple engineers are obsessed with making their hardware as light and thin as possible.

As for when this new watch will be released, Blair’s sources claim that the device will start being mass-produced in July or August, which means it’s likely coming out in October after Apple has already unveiled its 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Blair says Apple will release two different models of the iWatch, which Business Insider interprets to mean one watch designed for men and another designed for women.

And finally, he says that Apple is planning to build between 18 million and 21 million iWatches in the second half of the year, which means Apple is incredibly confident that its first-ever wearable computer is going to be a smash hit.
