A bit of digging through Apple’s online job board Thursday revealed multiple job listings for engineers who may be needed to work with a forthcoming Verizon iPhone. Fortune uncovered the listings, which call for full-time Cellular Systems Performance Engineers who will address protocol issues and field test hardware. The listings also state that candidates should be familiar with GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA and CDMA technologies. Though Fortune mistakenly writes that the WCDMA standard is not currently utilized by Apple phones, it is right about one thing: CDMA, Verizon Wireless’ network technology of choice, is not currently used in any iPhone models. Apple has not yet confirmed an iPhone model for the Verizon Wireless network, though it has been widely reported that a Verizon iPhone will launch early in 2011.
