Last year, Microsoft revealed Gears of War 4 at its E3 presentation to the surprise and delight of Gears fans. It was one of the biggest announcements of the keynote presentation, but in the nine months since the reveal, we really haven’t learned much more about a game that is sure to be one of the biggest Xbox One exclusive of the year.
On Tuesday, that changed, as Game Informer revealed its latest cover story.

Here’s everything we know about Gears of War 4 so far.
Set 25 years after the events of Gears 3, the fourth numbered entry in the series will follow the son of Marcus Fenix, JD Fenix, as he and his squad mates Kait Diaz and Delmont Walker try to survive “one night in the woods” while discovering and thwarting the new enemy that threatens to destroy humanity.
JD Fenix is described as “an idealist who ran away from home at a young age to join the the COG militia,” but after getting wrapped up in a “classified incident,” he went AWOL. Delmont “Del” Walker was also involved in the incident, forcing him to flee to join the Outsiders. Kait Diaz is one of those Outsiders, and ends up joining the team.
Going hands-on with the three new characters, Game Informer was also able to confirm that couch co-op will once again be an option in Gears of War 4. For all the Xbox 360 owners who played through the original trilogy with a friend sitting beside them, this should come as especially welcome news.
Game Informer is set to reveal plenty more details about Gears of War 4 in the coming weeks, so we’ll stay turned for any major developments.
