It’s been quite some time since Max (formerly HBO Max) dropped its free trial, but for a limited time, all new customers can once again try out the streaming service free of charge. From now through June 23, if you sign up for any of Max’s monthly or yearly plans, you can watch free for seven days before Max charges you for your first payment.
The timing of the trial couldn’t be better for Game of Thrones fanatics, as the second season of House of the Dragon premieres on Sunday, June 16, at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET. With a week-long trial, you should have time to binge season 1 and stream at least one episode of season 2 — two episodes if you wait until Monday to start your trial.
Here are all of the latest prices for Max’s plans, which just increased earlier this month:
- Max With Ads: $9.99/month or $99.99/year (save 16%)
- Max Ad-Free: $16.99/month or $169.99/year (save 16%)
- Max Ultimate Ad-Free: $20.99/month or $209.99/year (save 16%)
If you’re only going to stick around through the free trial, you might as well sign up for one of the ad-free plans. Just be sure to cancel your subscription before Max charges you if you don’t want to pay to watch Max’s library of shows and movies.
If you want to sign up, head to Max.com and click the “Start Your Free Trial” button on the home page. From there, you’ll need to pick your plan, create your account, and enter your credit card information to sign up for the free trial.
Speaking of the library, there’s plenty else to watch during the free week if you aren’t interested in House of the Dragon. There’s the bonkers new docuseries Ren Faire, which follows a retiring Renaissance festival king and the power struggle that ensues. You can also catch up on Hacks, which was just renewed for its fourth season, the absurd Adult Swim animated comedy Smiling Friends, or the entire Studio Ghibli catalog of films.
