Brendan Dassey, the 27-year-old who, along with his uncle Steven Avery, sparked a nationwide outcry after his story became the hit Netflix documentary Making a Murderer, will be freed.
TMJ4 reports a federal judge demanded that Dassey, who had originally confessed that he helped his uncle murder Teresa Halback in Wisconsin in 2005, be released after his confession was deemed to have been forced. Dassey’s case will still be appealed by the state, but the judge ruled that Dassey shall be discharged from jail in the meantime.

Dassey became a household name following the debut of the Netflix documentary Making a Murderer. Then 16, Dassey’s taped confessions were anything but compelling, and his interrogators often guided him through their own theory of how the crime played out for hours on end, with Dassey simply nodding or repeating what he was being told.
Following the popularity of the documentary, cries for retrials and appeals for both prime suspect Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey were simply impossible to quiet. The state, for the record, “vigorously opposes” his release.
Dassey’s release carries several conditions. Dassey must not possess firearms or controlled substances, cannot apply for a passport, and must provide the court with his address within 24 hours.
Should Dassey pass the hurdles of appeals that likely stand in his way — of if the state chooses to drop the charges entirely — he has plenty to look forward to, including a free trip to WrestleMania, courtesy of porn site xHamster.
