Even as cord cutting and streaming services have changed the face of the entertainment industry for good, consumers still go in droves to the movie theater every month. None of us want to miss out on the billion-dollar blockbusters that Marvel and DC will be pumping out all year, but there are certain trends that have developed over the past few decades that we’d be happy to never see again.

In a new video, Screen Rant has put together a list of ten of the most frustrating trends that seem to make their way into every major blockbuster movie. The first is one I’m sure you’re sick of: fake death scenes.
Oh no, one of your favorite characters just died! Wait, what’s that? It was all just a fake out, and they actually survived the bullet to the chest/getting run over/falling off a building? Well, thank goodness!
It’s hard to get emotionally invested in a story when a movie tries to manipulate us by “temporarily” killing off a beloved character. The same can be said for movies that rely too heavily on CGI. Sure, Up and Wall-E can make you cry just as quickly as any great drama, but when everything’s always exploding and all of the bad guys were added in post, it can be somewhat off-putting.
