Google’s Waze is a handy navigation app that will tell you all you need to know about local traffic to speed up your commute while also saving you some gas money. Can this community-based traffic app get even better than it already is? The answer is yes, and a new update for the iPhone version of the app proves it.
The app now takes traffic trends into account in order to project traffic for future rides, and it will help you make sure you leave on time to take into account traffic conditions.

The new feature “takes into account expected traffic conditions based on smart algorithms, aggregated traffic history and predictive analysis,” Google explains.
After you’ve determined your route, you can set an alarm in Waze, which the app will automatically adjust based on real-time driving conditions and predictions so that you arrive on time to your destination.
To use the new feature, set a destination by going to Menu, then Enter address. Then, on the Waze ETA panel, click the Waze Planned Drives icon. A new screen will open showing the peak traffic hours and condition on your determined route, related to your planned arrival time.
Furthermore, if you’re willing to give Waze more access to your personal data, including calendar and Facebook feeds, the app can create timed drives for preprogrammed events. It can also notify your contacts of your arrival at a certain destination.
Other new features in the latest Waze update include notifications in the Waze Traffic Bar for traffic jams, and automatically muting the app during incoming or outgoing calls.
Out on iOS right now, this Waze update will hit Android “soon,” according to Google.
